Beijing, one of six cities approved by the State Council in July 2021 to spearhead construction of international consumer center cities, has executed national strategic plans over the subsequent two years with notable results. The Central Economic Work Conference for 2024 underscored the need to invigorate consumption modes with potential and shift focus from post-pandemic recovery towards sustained expansion of consumption.
